Introduction (English)

Nubia (a ZTE sub-brand in China) launched its first gaming smartphone – Red Magic. The product design of Red Magic is very stylish. The highlights of Red Magic come with its primary colour (black and red) and hexagonal cutouts equipped with ventilation holes on its four edges. Another excellent feature that makes it popular is the glowing LED strip on the back.

To our surprise, the specifications of Red Magic are different from what we expected. If you look at it carefully, you will discover that it uses last year’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor instead of the newer Snapdragon 845. Its screen displays 2160 x 1080 pixel and 6-inch, but it isn’t equipped with a 120 Hz panel like what Razer Phone offers. The rest of the phone shares similar standards with mid- to high-end Android smartphones. Red Magic offers two models: 6GB Ram+64GB Rom or 8GB Ram+128GB Rom. It should be noted that 6GB Ram+64GB Rom is only available in China Version and is not compatible with micro SD memory card. Camera-wise, there is a 24-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing lens. Battery storage is 3,800mAh and comes with the heatsink, all of which are specially designed for the better performance when users are playing power-hungry games. In addition to these, GameBoost software is compatible with Red Magic to facilitate the performance.

Special attention should be drawn to the superb performance demonstrated by NeoSmart artificial intelligence supported by Red Magic. It is said that 79 out of 128 mobile games are installed with NeoSmart artificial intelligence, meaning that loading the games can be faster and the frequency of Frame Per Second (FPS) is higher.

One more thing to be noted is the major difference between the international and domestic versions. In terms of the domestic version, the surface is imprinted with “Nubia”, but no trace of mark is visible for the international one. For further information, please refer to the picture hereby. More importantly, Google Play is included in the international version

For now, the partnerships include Arena of Valor, Kings of Glory, Crossfire, Honkai Impact 3 and QQSpeed etc.

Between last year’s Razer Phone, Xiaomi Black Shark this year, and now the Nubia’s Red Magic, there is little room for debate to say that gaming phones in China have significant room for growth. It is of no surprise that the entire world will embrace gaming phones with open arms.

Pay close attention to our website ( and Red Magic will be available on 20 May 2018 in Techinthebasket DE.
